Privacy Policy
What we collect through this website, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Last updated: 1 August 2026
BLW Canada is a campus ministry of Christ Embassy and a registered non-profit organization in Canada. This policy covers the website at lwcanada.org. It explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who else can see it, and how to reach us about it.
What we collect, and when
We only collect what you type into a form. There is no account required to read anything on this site.
| If you… | We collect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Send a contact message, prayer request, or tell us you gave your life to Christ | Your name, email address, phone number, and what you wrote | To reply to you and, for prayer requests, to pray for you |
| Share a testimony | Your name, email address, phone number, a title, and your testimony | To review it, and — only if you tick the consent box — to publish it |
| Send feedback | Your name, email address, phone number, and your message | To understand what to improve |
| Order books | Your name, email address, phone number, which fellowship you belong to, your KingsChat handle, and your full shipping address | To ship your books and match your e-Transfer to your order |
| Register for a programme or event | Whatever that programme’s form asks for, which varies | To register you and contact you about it |
| Create an account | Your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, street address, and a password we store only in encrypted form | To sign you in and to know who is part of the ministry |
Sensitive information
A prayer request or a message telling us you have given your life to Christ says something about your religious beliefs. Canadian privacy law treats that as sensitive, and so do we. Those messages are read by the ministry team who need to respond to them, and are not published, sold, or shared with anyone outside BLW Canada.
Your testimony is different, because publishing it is the point. We only publish it if you tick the consent box on the form, and a member of the team reviews it before it appears. Your name is published with it; your email address and phone number are not. If you change your mind, email us and we will take it down.
What is collected automatically
We use Google Analytics to see which pages people visit. It records the page you are on, roughly where you are (from your IP address), and what browser and device you use. It runs on every page of this site.
We do not currently show a cookie banner, so Analytics starts when the page loads. If you would rather it did not, most browsers let you block third-party scripts and cookies, and Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Analytics entirely.
What happens right after you submit a form
Every form on this site sends an email to the ministry team so somebody sees it. That email contains what you wrote — including the full text of a prayer request, and the complete shipping address on a book order — and is set up so that replying to it replies to you. The message is stored in our database as well.
This means your submission also lives in the mailboxes of the team members who receive those alerts, and asking us to delete a record from the database does not by itself remove it from an inbox. Tell us if you want both, and we will do both.
Who else can see your information
We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. These are the companies involved in running the site, and what each one handles:
| Who | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Heroku (Salesforce) | Runs the server that receives and stores form submissions |
| MongoDB | The database those submissions are stored in |
| Our web host (cPanel) | Serves the website files and stores images uploaded by our team |
| Our email provider | Delivers the alert emails that tell our team a form was submitted |
| Google Analytics | Website usage statistics |
| Google Fonts | Loads the fonts used on the site, which reveals your IP address to Google |
| YouTube | Embedded video players on the livestream, messages and resources pages. YouTube can set its own cookies when a player loads |
| Google Calendar | An embedded calendar on some pages |
| YouTube Data API | The messages and resources pages ask YouTube for our video list directly from your browser, so YouTube sees your IP address even before you press play |
| Redis | Short-lived counters used to stop abuse of our forms, keyed on your IP address |
Our servers are operated by providers whose infrastructure may be located outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that is the case, your information may be accessible to the courts and authorities of that country under its laws.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety.
How long we keep it
We should be straightforward with you here: we do not currently delete form submissions on a fixed schedule. A message you send today is kept until someone removes it. Expired login tokens are the one thing deleted automatically.
If you would like something you sent us removed, ask and we will remove it — see below.
Your choices
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete what you sent us, including a published testimony
- Stop contacting you
There is no self-service button for any of this yet — there is no way to delete your own account from the website, and no unsubscribe link on our emails. Email contact@lwcanada.org and a person will handle it. Tell us roughly when you contacted us and which form you used, so we can find the right record.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Young people
This is a campus ministry, so the site is aimed at university students and adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.
How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored encrypted and never in readable form, and the admin area is limited to specific ministry accounts. No website can promise perfect security, but we do not keep information we do not need, and we do not put your details in any system beyond the ones listed above.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be mentioned on the site.
